In today's video I am installing a kit from CarlinKit which adds Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to my Tesla Model 3. Hi Paul, thanks for this comparison review of gen 1 v gen 3. One aspect you didn’t cover was the sound system. I love music when I drive, and I appreciate a good sound system. I think in gen 1 SR you got a reduced sound system. And this might be the same with gen 3. When you showed the boot space, your gen 1 has a subwoofer on the right, which is why there is no cubby there, but your new SR has a cubby on both sides of the boot, perhaps because the subwoofer is omitted. It would be interesting to explore the difference in the sound system. I know this seems a bit petty, but a big advantage of an EV is the possibility of much better sound quality.

    I could never understand how Tesla could sell $50K cars without a powered frunk and trunk. A couple of years ago they added a power lift trunk but still no powered frunk? Still, if I was going to the expense and trouble of adding a frunk closer, I would spend the extra money and time to put in a full power lift frunk kit.

      I agree that there should be more fitted as standard - I’ve wondered if it’s a crash safety thing but now the cyber truck has an electric frunk, I think it’s just a cost saving exercise on the M3 and Y. I might have been tempted to go with the full electric installation but I’m conscious that it is a company vehicle and not my own, so I’m reluctant to do any more than this.

    Hi Paul, I would really like to thank you for your posts on your M3RD. Ultra red also the best colour. 😀 Uk posts on these are slim and with you Paul, being such a genuine and honest family guy. Constantly checking to see if you have released any thing else. I’m hooked. If you could help me? I’m about to order a M3RD in ultra red my self through salary sacrifice. My question… enhanced auto pilot or not? I want it. 😂 But for £3400 what do we actually get for the money the uk?? I do a lot of driving through work and also a small family. Your opinion I know will help me decide. Paul you have helped me out with your posts. I now know what wheel trims to get and what accessories to get. Keep up the good work Paul 👍 is

      That’s really kind, thank you. Happy to help! Honestly, I’m not sure I would bother with the enhanced autopilot. The advantages are minimal in Europe, such as self parking and I think it will change lane automatically when you indicate? None of the cool stuff works fully here, such as summon or full driver-less navigation. However, I would suggest buying and installing the Enhance Auto Commander unit and then you have automatic reengage of auto steer when you change lane (have a look at the S3XY button video) - that feature alone has changed my motorway driving and there’s lots more additional functionality. Plus, it’s less than £200 and there’s a discount code in my video description. Enjoy the car and there’s more videos to come - I have quite a backlog of products to review. Carbon fibre enhancements coming next Friday!

    How does it work for daily use? Now that its setup, is using it as simple as getting in your car and opening the web browser? Are there additional steps you have to do to use it every time (start the phone hotspot, disconnect from home wifi before driving away, etc)? Im hoping to find a solution that is as seamless as possible.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews День тому

      No, you literally just get in and open the browser. I do need to wait until I’m away from the house, so the car doesn’t connect to the home WiFi over the car play box WiFi, but, as soon as I drive away, it moves to the box and works. It’s pretty effortless, once you’re set up. 👍🏼

    How are you finding the range on the Highland Standard range? I want the LR mainly due to the additional power and speakers but when test drove the SR i didn't find it too slow. My salary sacrifice offer the LR at such a inflated price compared to the SR

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews 4 дні тому

      So far, so good. Not that different to my old LR - approximately 10% less range on a mixed speed trip. It definitely is not as quick, but the circumstances where that matters are pretty few and far between, TBH.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews 4 дні тому

      That's fair - I did face some unforeseen challenges but the positive is that you won't have to, thanks to my experience. The reception strength challenge was just during set up and I've not had any problems since. It is also definitely most straightforward when away from your home WiFi, as the car still wants to connect to that, which is important for software updates but not for this installation. I may do a follow up if I think it warrants it but thanks for watching and your feedback.

      Planning a video soon on economy so far, but, in a nutshell, the car itself thinks 100% = 270 miles of range. The motorway will bring that down quite quickly but, on a mid speed road (40-60mph) with minimal starting and stopping, I think that's quite possible.

      Thanks for your entirely proportionate use of grammar (!) and potential misrepresentation of what defines an ‘epic fail’. (I’d have said maybe accidentally setting the car on fire would qualify, not a phone holder placement). Anyway, I’ve tested it and, there is adequate clearance between the phone and the vent, once the wheel is in my driving position, meaning the impact is quite minimal. Incidentally, my map does not slide over. A quick Google search suggests it doesn’t work in quite a few situations, whether it is a geographical, software or generation thing - no idea.

    Superb video. I don't know much about cars so it's not clear to me where exactly you disconnect the power from the battery so you can work safely. I see you connect the positive (red) and negative (black) so the power must be off. Is it the plug from the closing mechanism in the front which tends to be a bit difficult to connect? Before testing you're talking about the mains power (before the alarm goes off). I didn't see you do anything on that right side of you before. What am I missing?

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews 16 днів тому

      Thank you. The motor unit (the plug I anticipated being hard to remove but actually came out relatively easily), is the only plug you need to disconnect. The kit itself only connects to the 12v car battery so there’s no danger there, as long as you connect in the right order (positive first). The alarm was triggered by me reconnecting the original frunk motor (which is also 12v, so I should have chosen better terminology). Hope that clarifies?

      Honestly, I didn’t have any choice; my company car list changed. I needed to slow down a bit anyway, so it’s advantageous in that sense, but I do miss the brutal acceleration of the long range sometimes when I’m just that way out on a quiet road. I’d suggest you drive them both and see how you feel, but you’ll be happy with either, I imagine. The question will be does the difference warrant £1.200 a year?

    hi, i will be grateful if you can advise on Phillips hue v/s lightwave. I live in uk & My whole house is getting rewired pretty soon.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews 22 дні тому

      It honestly depends on the kind of lights you have. If you can fit a smart bulb like Hue then it’s great but you need to remember that it needs to stay turned on all the time, so you’ll need to cover the light switches to ensure nobody turns them off. You may then want a hue switch or else you’re reliant on your phone or an Alexa (or similar) to turn it off/on. With that in mind, I’d lean towards Lightwave as a better all round solution, wherever possible. The only real exception is if you have lights across multiple circuits and you want to control them simultaneously, then Hue works best. I used that solution for our 5 front of house lights that are on three different switches. By using hue bulbs, I can switch them all on or off simultaneously. Hope that helps!

      Turns out, having watched another video, that it could be put around the inside of the cover to stick it to the rim. Honestly, can’t think why it would be needed, as the cover is really secure, but I guess it’s nice to have the option.

    What's the status of Powerwalls given the new PW3 isn't AC Coupled while the older PW2 is? I want the LFP chemistry and since I have 31 PV panels (12.5 kWh) with 31 Enphase IQ8A Inverters. Now my installer only offers two choices, the Tesla PW2 with the NMC chemistry and the Enphase 5P with LFP. On paper, the older PW2 is the best bang for the buck but its future and chemistry hold me back. With the available credits/rebates in Illinois, I can get 2 PW2s installed for $3500 LESS than 3 Enphase 5Ps. Could there be a NEW AC-coupled PW3 just around the corner? Should I be fearful of the older NMC chemistry aka FIRES? See my dilemma? While I'm in the US your video and explanation are brilliant and will use it when trying to educate my Neanderthal neighbors.

    I forgot to click my mous intralock case in one time and got up to around 55mph on my motorcycle before it slipped off. When I pulled over to run out into traffic to pick up my phone the case was scuffed and cracked, the phone was in perfect order. Not a blemish. Mous all the was guys
